Lets break down these important aspects:
Electrical:
Miners need power. Most professional miners need 240 volts and use 20 amp plugs. You need to make sure your current Electrical Panel can provide the power necessary to run your miners. Depending on your needs, You can either add a sub panel or bring in a whole new line. There are 2 schools of thought when it comes to the distribution of power to your miners. The best (in our opinion) is to dedicate a 20 amp 240v breaker to each miner. While the cost is a little bit higher up front, It’s a cleaner installation. Each breaker goes to either a single dual outlet or a quad. This way, each miner gets a dedicated line. The “other” way is to put 30amp, 240v breakers and run those lines to a single L630R receptacle. Then add a PDU, (Power Distribution Unit) which usually has anywhere from 4-24 outlets. Then the miners plug into these. Depending on the miners, you may be able to fit 1-3 professional miners on each PDU. If your miners do not require much amperage, Then you may add more. To us at WUP, We believe PDU’s are good for miners that don’t require much power draw. So depending on your setup, We might recommend a mixture of direct outlets and PDU’s
Thermal Considerations (Ventilation):
One of the main factors of a happy miner is air flow. (And they need a lot of it!) They require “Coolish” air blowing into them and they will blow out the hot air that they produce. Depending on your setup, If there is no way for the hot air to escape, It will recycle back into the room and can raise your room temperature by 10-15 degrees! But that’s not all! There is something called “Static Pressure” that will affect the flow of air to and from your miners. When you consult with us, We will design and build the best way to control the air pressure going in and out of your farm.
Network:
The good news is that miners require very little bandwidth to produce. But can get complicated the more miners that you add. We can design a network that can be as simple as an unmanaged switch all the way to a level 3 managed network system w/firewall.
Farm Considerations:
Before you sign that lease or purchase a building (or land), Give us a call! We can look at everything and advise you on what would be needed to get your farm up and running.
